About Elolah
A self-taught mixed media artist.
Inspired by multiple exposure photography, memory, colors, textures.
I fell in love with photography ever since I, as a kid, got my hands on our family digital camera. Wanting to remember everything, from the color of our living room rug, how the sun looked that one day, that one tree that always looked funny, to how the dust settled on my bookshelf and the worn out blanket on the sofa. The need to document everything resulted in never-ending journaling, carving of initials, and more and more photographs.
But this was not enough, the photographs could not replicate the moments I was trying to capture.
Collages are in my opinion the perfect way to stitch together all the small impressions you get at certain moments in life. I try to do this in a meaningful way that will allow me to get an overview of the bigger picture, while encapsulating the mood, feeling and meaning of a specific moment. Therefore, my collages are always built around certain experiences that I or others have had, in an attempt to reflect on and reconstruct the moment.
Using textures, colors, layers, text and so on - allows me to visualise and process moments of life that can't be explained with words only.
I am currently balancing creating art and getting my masters degree in Culture, Communication and Globalization.
